Clean up the database Although you can t edit the Media Library database, you can clean it up easily if it becomes corrupted (or if you simply want to get a fresh start). After closing Windows Media Player, open Windows Explorer and browse to the hidden folder %UserProfile%\ Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player. Rename the database file, CurrentDatabase_130.wmdb. Then reopen Windows Media Player and use the Search facility to import music and other media files stored on your computer (see the following section, Adding Items to Your Media Library, for more details). This step erases the stored details (including customizations) of any CDs and DVDs you ve played but have not added to the Library; you ll need to download these details again for each CD in your collection. It also wipes out the star ratings and play counts for any tracks in your library.

19. In the Security Properties dialog box, in the Log Size section, select Do Not Overwrite Events (Clear Log Manually). Click OK. Close Event Viewer. 20. Restart Server2. The restart activates the Audit: Shut Down System Immediately If Unable To Log Security Audits audit setting. 21. Log on using the domain administrator user name and password. 22. Double-click the Secure folder on the desktop.

As you have seen, if you copy CDs to your hard disk, those copies automatically become part of your Media Library. Windows Media Player creates entries in the audio section of your library for album titles, artist names, song titles, and musical genres. Adding tracks by copying CDs is, however, only one of several ways to build your library.

You are about to cause an automated shutdown of Server2 by running the script inside the Secure folder. The script simply creates, copies, and deletes two files 500 times. This may take a few seconds, so be patient. The activity is more than enough to fill the 64 KB security log. Once that log is full, the server will shut down.

23. Double-click the Fileactivity.vbs file in the Secure folder. Server2 restarts a few seconds after you double-click the file. You have created the problem from the scenario. Now it is time to fix the issue. 1. When Server2 restarts, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete and notice the message in the Log On To Windows dialog box. Log on using the domain administrator name and password. 2. Open Event Viewer and click the security log. In the details pane, double-click the most recent event logged (Event ID 521). The Event Properties dialog box opens. 3. Notice the description reads Unable To Log Events To Security Log. The descrip tion also indicates that the value of CrashOnAuditFail is 1. Actually, you ll see the value is now 2. Click OK. 4. Right-click the security log and click Clear All Events. The Event Viewer message box appears, asking you if you d like to save the security log. Click No. 5. Right-click the security log and click Properties. The Security Properties dialog box opens. Select the Overwrite events as needed and configure the maximum log size for 131072 KB. Click OK. Close the Event Viewer. 6. Click Start, click Run, type regedit and then press Enter. The Registry Editor console opens. 7. Expand the following registry path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control and click on the LSA key. 8. In the details pane, double-click the CrashOnAuditFail value. The Edit DWORD Value appears. Change the Value data to 0. Click OK. Close the Registry Editor.
